Levi’s Big Red
Sire: GCH Clefell’s Romeo / Dam: Regalanes Love At First Sight
Oh, Big Red, my silly boy! Big Red was actually a nickname I came up with for him since he was the biggest red puppy in the litter. When it was time to think of a call name, nothing seemed to feel right, so I ended up actually naming him Big Red.
Big Red is another great ambassador for the Romeo/Juliet combination in both temperament and conformation. He is such a happy boy like Romeo is, but he is also more trainable like Juliet. He also has that star quality presence, just like Romeo! Big Red wins the hearts of many as soon as he walks into a room with his super happy personality, beautiful expression and elegant, well-muscled stature. And, he’s not even fully mature yet!
After a long break in showing dogs, I decided that I wanted a different experience and show an “all natural” GP, keeping the ears and the tail. In Big Red’s first set of shows with competition, he won Best of Breed from the 6 - 9 month puppy class and beat adult champions, winning his first major towards his AKC championship! What a day that was! On Day 2 of the shows on that weekend, Big Red went Best of Breed again! Romeo also beat adult champions from the puppy class, so like father like son! But, Big Red won as an all-natural GP and beat adult cropped/docked champions. That is a GP first here in the U.S. for an all natural to win like that!
Although I still appreciate a cropped/docked GP, Big Red has certainly changed my preference to keeping all my GP’s all natural moving forward. At the dog shows, I get so many compliments from experienced exhibitors of GP’s and other breeds on how much they like the ears and tail on Big Red. I understand that in the U.S., most GP’s in the show ring are cropped and docked, which could make winning more challenging. But, it’s not my goal for Big Red to be a #1 dog like his dad, Romeo. My goal is for Big Red to be a champion for the all natural GP and to help the judges and exhibitors begin to recognize his overall soundness and temperament.
Stay tuned for updates on Big Red. He is already the most popular U.S. born All-Natural German Pinscher in the show rings!
